General Information

Keeping Safe On The River...

Members and day ticket holders are reminded of the potential risks connected with waterside and outdoor activities and are advised to exercise due care and attention at all times. You are encouraged to report to a member of the committee any potential hazard that you may identify on the association’s waters.

The following are some of the risks you should be alert to while fishing the association’s waters.

A. No fishing or the carrying of assembled rods within 30 metres of overhead electric power lines.

B. Be vigilant in areas subject to bank erosion or where there may be unsafe trees.

C. Be aware of the potential danger of livestock.

D. Be conscious of the risk posed to others when you are back casting.

E. While there is a large proportion of broken and relatively shallow water on the Derwent, there are also some quite deep pools on club waters.

Please also ensure that you follow the Countryside Code and do not go beyond the permitted boundaries of club waters and access paths.

The Countryside Code
• Be safe, plan ahead and follow any signs
• Leave gates and property as you find them
• Protect plants and animals and take your litter home
• Consider other people
